MMORPG
It's official: Britain is nuts about MMOs.
As part of the campaign efforts for Star Trek Online (you can read our current thoughts on the game here), Star Trek fans are being invited to be part of an attempt to beat the world record for the 'largest gathering of people dressed as Star Trek characters' on February 14th at 1.00pm on London's Millenium Bridge.
Star Trek fans can dress as anything Star Trek related and representatives from the Guinness Book of records will be on ...
Total PC Gaming Columnist Kelly Wand makes a compelling argument for developers rewarding online gamers for playing their games- with real money.
We've got 250 beta keys for Allods Online to give away to our forumites, courtesy of gPotato.
It’s easy to be popular in an MMO – you just don’t do anything wrong. It’s far harder to nerf it completely, but there are a few things you can do to ensure that your guild comes across as something no sane player would touch with a Perfect Barge Pole of Deliberate Ignorance inscribed with ‘Do Not Want’.
The Endless Forest
Possibly the only MMO to double as a screensaver and let you play as a deer, which is surely reason in itself to give it a play and frolic in the woods....
Star Vault has had its MMO, Mortal Online in development since 2002, but it's only recently that the Swedish developer has opened the Beta forums up to the public.
US company Redbana updated the Mythos teaser site yesterday, announcing the upcoming launch of the ARPG MMO Mythos... for the North American market. Slightly irked that parent company T3 appeared to be neglecting a clear market for the game in Europe, we got in touch with Redbana, who told us that "Mythos will definitely be headed there eventually." Good news then, for those that were enjoying the MMO when it was in beta.
#3 Retaking Weathertop (Lord Of The Rings Online)
We thought Frodo had it bad, until the ailing Uruk-Kai boss we were fighting decided to unleash a bloody mountain troll on us. We’d rather face the Nazgûl.
#2 Legion (Dark Age Of Camelot)
At the bottom of a grim dungeon called Darkness Falls, lives its boss Legion, an undead demonic horror ...
Your guild’s great: they’re good company and they PvP when they’re supposed to. You’ve got a lively forum and a kill count that’s respectable without being obnoxious. Most
importantly, you have a lot of fun. So how do you go about transferring that magic to the new slew of MMOs in 2010?
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be a genuine Elvish-speaking Tolkien fan-loony to enjoy LOTRO. It’s an enjoyable and immersive experience for anyone who likes fantasy MMOs, although playing it isn’t going to make you wake up tomorrow with the mystical ability to understand what the hell was going on in The Silmarillion.
Now here's a good idea: a dedicated website that allows players to freely blacklist World Of Warcraft ninjas, spammers and trolls. It's called wowjackass.com and was created by an enthusiastic U.S. player called Sam Morris who simply had enough of people that were spoiling the game for him and decided to do something about it.
...or "Come back to Age Of Conan", rather. Funcom's latest drive to bring players back to its spearhead MMORPG is a repeat of last year's successful re-evaluation campaign. Dip back into your dormant AOC account any time in November and you'll get two weeks access for free with a double experience modifier for the entire period. Anyone that decides to subscribe beyond the period will also recieve beta access to Funcom's MMO in-the-making, The Secret World.

Being the highly competitive guy I am, I'm not going to be out-done by Ben or Sam's 'noob' press trips. Actually, Ben's Chernobyl pics probably have the edge, but while Sony's Fan Faire 2009 didn't feature mortal danger or fire breathing it had more than its fair share of scantily clad models and over-weight American fancy dress freak shows.
Beat that!

The barrage of beta news continues with NCsoft guaranteeing players who pre-order Aion: The Tower of Eternity, their new MMO launching in the autumn, access to all the games closed beta events. The offer applies to both pre-orders of the standard and limited edition versions of the game. The developer also revealed the ...
