Install WinUAE - Nip over to www.winuae.com and click on the download link for the program. Download and run the installer for the latest version. It’ll ask you to quit other applications and will then run through various options. In the meantime, stare vacantly while clicking Next and Install, until the Setup Wizard says it’s done.

Portal is an entire book in the form of a game and by all rights should be a painful chore, but it’s actually the most (if not the only) successful attempt at blending gaming with a novel.

PUBLISHER: SCi Interplay DEVELOPERS: Stainless Games RELEASED: 1997 GENRE: Racing Carmageddon was a long time coming, and didn’t intend to be the “sickly, depraved piece of soul poison” (as Stainless Software founders Neil Barnden and Patrick Buckland called it in the manual introduction) it ultimately evolved into. It began life as a destruction derby game; however, when its marketing potential was realised by publisher SCi, the company had grand ideas of re-engineering it into a Mad Max licence. When this franchise fell apart, a new and equally violent premise presented itself in the shape of an intended fi lm sequel to the 1975 post-apocalyptic movie, Death Race 2000, was announced.

Duke Nukem 3D was irreverent, loud and shameless. It was the first FPS to show gamers that even a genre about killing people with the biggest guns possible could indulge in self-parody. Now that we’re inundated with FPS games, we have to ask: was DN3D really that special?

I recently got back from a trip in Finland to Frozenbyte Studios- my first as an official TPCG card carrying team member, (badges, we don't need no stinking badges!) and got to play Trine, a charming physics based 2D platform/ puzzle game that's showing a great deal of promise.
