Command and Conquer 4 could only be done right on PC

In a recent interview with Total PC Gaming, Jim Vessella producer at EA working on Command & Conquer 4 told us that the PC was the only real choice as a platform for the final C&C game.
“When we set out to make C&C 4 and were deciding which platforms to go on, we realised we could really just open up the design a lot more if we went straight for PC,” Vessela said.“You have such a different design challenge (going multi-platform), because the controller is a limiting factor compared to the mouse and keyboard- we tried for several years to really get the RTS genre onto console, pioneering it with Battle for Middle Earth 2, and some things worked, “ said the producer who also worked on that development team, “ I think we got the controls to a point where it was playable, but we really needed to sacrifice some things in the design.”
For the even more ambitious goals of C&C 4 team, the PC was, he claims, the most viable choice as a platform to create their game. “We wouldn’t need to sacrifice anything in terms of visual fidelity, memory constraints or importantly controls,” he said. “Being on PC will really have Command & Conquer 4 achieve its full creative potential.”
Command & Conquer 4 is scheduled for release on PC in early 2010

Yet another AAA game for release in 2010? There are just too many games coming out then. I think some of the games’ sales are going to suffer.
have to say i’m looking forward to C&C 4 but i agree this year has been really sparse for me as a gamer and 2010 looks to be the big year for the PC (i hope) but as you say some of the games will suffer in sales ifthe release dates are to close together.
