While everyone else who went out and bought boxed copies of Modern Warfare 2 will be playing Infinity Wards much anticipated shooter, anyone who downloaded it via Steam will have to wait until Thursday.

call-of-duty-modern-warfare2While everyone else who went out and bought boxed copies of Modern Warfare 2 will be playing Infinity Wards much anticipated shooter, anyone who downloaded it via Steam will have to wait until Thursday.

PC Gamers with a boxed copy of the game can activate it as of today however, despite the fact that the two share the same DRM.

Valve haven’t commented as to just why Steam customers have to put up with the delay, perhaps they wished to avoid a huge download bottleneck.  But with everything else that has happened with the PC version, it’s sure to mean another set of unhappy PC players- and the news it isn’t likely to help early day sales on the format.

Modern Warfare 2 was released worldwide last night and the official UK launch was hosted by Vernon Keye in London’s Leicester Square- the first time a game has launched in the famous Square.

I put this on my list of “might buy when it’s 20.00 bucks”.
So far it’s a castrated console port from the youtube videos I can see.

Oh yea and here’s the real thing, no upfront info about the game, so people that pre-ordered got a real lesson learned and most feel ripped off. IW knew PC gamers would feak and cancel so they deliberately withheld the PC demo from reviewers, took the pre-order money and basically scammed the entire pc community. Sounds like fraud, but really it now kind of killed the whole pre-order notion. PC gamers be forewarned, dont pre-order, wait till release and check your reviews and youtube videos and forums first!!!
