THQ has just released a new free expansion pack for real time strategy game Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II entitled ‘The Last Stand’.
We rather liked War hammer 40K and praised it for its RPG and loot heavy twist to the RTS genre, scoring it a well deserved 9/10 in Issue 17, and you can check out our thoughts here.
The Last Stand Expansion features a new co-op survival mode which lets you pick an individual hero unit, be it Space Marine Captain, Ork Mekboy or Eldar Farseer and team up with other player squad mates to face endless waves of attackers. The aim, of course, is to hold out for as long as you can and kill as many as possible until you finally succumb -and with all of the abilities that hero units have we imagine that good co-operative players will be able to secure bragging rights to some pretty long survival runs.
The Last Stand will also bring two new multiplayer maps to DOW2 as well as balance updates and bug fixes as it automatically updates the game.

Why wouldn’t they? This non-strategy strategy game has only sold about half of the original STRATEGY game Dawn of War! This is why PC game sales are dropping, PC gamers are the intelligent gamers and every year the PC games we get get dumbed down more and more.
This pushes PC gamers to dig out their old games, and this is why retro PC gaming is the fastest growing PC gaming genre, it’s why over 4 million DOSBox’s have been downloaded, and it’s why Steam makes more money from retro PC titles than modern PC titles and why GOG.com is a powerhouse today!
