I recently went to Paris, to get a look at a third person adventure game called Risen, by German developer Piranha Bytes. Most easily described as a cross between Fable and Oblivion, Risen has you shipwrecked on a medieval fantasy island, needing to arm yourself to survive in the wilds of the island before finding civilisation. Onlive has confirmed that it has no release date for its upcoming cloud gaming service in Europe. During their press conference at Computex 2009 AMD/ATI publicly demostrated the first ever DirectX 11 graphics card, which is said to debut before Christmas. Crysis 2 will be confirmed for PC at around midnight tonight in an EA E3 announcement according to a leak to Total PC Gaming early today. Nothing is currently known about the sequel to 2007's stellar shooter other than it will be the first outing for Crytek's all-new CryEngine 3 graphics/game engine. As I patiently await the release of Street Fighter IV on the PC, I'm facing the prospect of having to learn how to play my favourite beat 'em up all over again. ...or TCRs, as they're known in the software industry. These are the requirements that pre-release software must pass before it's compliant to standard. What standard this is in the games industry exactly is open to individual interpretation, apparently. In a recent press trip to Volition, I found this posted on the inside of the toilet door (see left). Let's hope this reminder does the job as the Red Faction: Guerrilla team, err, goes about its daily business.
